In the 21st century, industrial areas in metropolitan cities have to be concentrations of advanced technological production facilities, ensuring that the economies of these cities are less dependent on the non-production sector and create jobs. In metropolitan cities abroad, the production sectors of their economies employ from 7% to 20% of the population of the city. Moscow’s industrial areas, on the other hand, are clearly not in line with the image of a modern city.
